WALT “BABY” LOVE


Reverend Walter Shaw is better known as Walt "Baby” Love. He has consistently shared his inspirational personal experiences along with his strong Christian faith to his listeners each week for over 54 years.

Walt has been the host of three uplifting radio programs: The Countdown with Walt "Baby Love" which aired for 29 years, from 1982 thru 2011; Gospel Traxx for 27 years; and The Urban AC Countdown for fifteen years.

Walt Love started on-air at KYOK- AM radio in Houston. He went on to become the first Black American on-air talent at Houston’s KILT-AM, as well as the first Black American on-air talent at RKO Radio, on-air at CKLW-AM/Detroit and on WOR-FM/ New York City, as well as KHJ-AM, KMPC-AM and KFI-AM in Los Angeles. He later worked on-air at WNBC-AM, WBLS-FM, and 99X in New York.

For twenty-one years, Walt worked at Radio & Records as the Urban Radio and Music Editor, while simultaneously hosting his syndicated radio shows.

In 2022, Walt “Baby” Love was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame.
