PACO NAVARRO


A native of Puerto Rico, Paco Navarro got his start in Spanish language radio and by the mid-1970s had secured a role at New York’s WJIT-AM.

When WJIT-AM’s sister station, WKTU-FM, transitioned to playing disco music, Navarro began hosting the 6-10 PM timeslot, and he became one of the most listened to DJs in New York City.  He stayed at the station until 1984. A native of Puerto Rico, he had been working on Spanish-language radio since he was 17 years old.

By 1978 he was an established Spanish language radio success, with 20 years of experience. Navarro had emceed 38 shows at Madison Square Garden and seen Spanish language radio become bigger by the year.

During Paco Navarro’s years of on-air work, he appeared weeknights 6pm – 10pm, and often times, drew 20% of the listening audience for many years.
