MOJO IN THE MORNING

Tom Carballo is Mojo of Mojo in the Morning, a popular radio morning show based in Detroit on Channel 955 WKQI and heard in other cities, as well.   The program debuted in 2000 and is hosted by Mojo with a long running ensemble cast including Shannon, Kevin, Lydia, Zack and Bianca.  Known for its mix of humor, pop culture, honest conversation, and listener interaction, Mojo in the Morning became one of the most successful and recognizable morning radio shows in the Midwest.   The program became the longest running morning show in Detroit in 2025, celebrating 25 years. 

Mojo started his on-air career in his hometown of Chicago at B96, WBBM FM, as a part-time weekend on air personality before moving to Tucson.   He found great success as co-host of Mojo & Betsy, a morning show on Top 40 KRQQ-FM in Tucson, Arizona, in the early 1990’s, with Betsy Barker.    He left in 1999 to move to Detroit and joined WKQI-FM, creating the self-titled Mojo In The Morning program. 

Mojo is admired not only for his on-air work but also for his commitment to authenticity. He often shares personal stories that resonate with listeners.  Mojo often includes stories of his family in his on-air conversations, as well as involving his audience in daily features and conversations, reaching a large cross section of demographics in the program.   He is a champion of many local causes in and around the Southeastern Michigan community.  

In 2025, Thomas Carballo received induction into the Radio Hall of Fame.
