DON WADE
Infectious good humor, an intelligent grasp of the issues and the ability to connect one-on-one with men and women throughout Chicago is how Don Wade was often. He was a longtime morning host at WLS-AM from 1986-2012, but he also worked at stations in many cities including Boston, Norfolk, Hartford, New Orleans, Dallas, Philadelphia and Seattle to name a few.
Wade was a graduate of Boston University and spent 55 years on the radio. He was a natural and whether you agreed or disagreed with his position on issues, listeners were riveted to his thought provoking, persuasive, even maddening discussions of the world around him.
Wade and his wife, Roma, formed a husband-and-wife radio team that was among the longest in Chicago radio history.
In the words of Don Wade, “find something you love to do and you’ll never work a day in your life.”
In 2025, Don Wade received a Legends Induction into the Radio Hall of Fame.
