CHUCK LEONARD


Chuck Leonard was an air personality on eight radio stations in New York City, most notably known for his work on WABC -AM in New York City during the 1960s and 1970sm for 14 years at WABC.

During his 40+ years on the air, Leonard worked virtually every air shift and played all styles of music at stations including WWRL, WABC, WXLO, WRKS, WBLS, WQEW, WNSW-AM and WJUX. Leonard joined Sirius Satellite Radio, where he was heard on both the Swing Street and Soul Review channels.

He has been inducted in the Museum of Television & Radio and is known as the first African American disc jockey to work on a mainstream radio station.
